I've read several of Ms。 Wentworth's books。 There's never anything deeply substantive, but they're always enjoyable。 For someone arguably rich and famous, and married to someone even more rich and famous, she comes across very much like an everywoman。 She's like that really funny friend you have。 And who doesn't need a funny friend?P。S。: Worth reading for the chapter on charades at Marlo Thomas's house alone! Wentworth manages, against the grain, to make the COVID years funny in this series of short snappy essays that made me laugh more than once。 She got sick early on and her trenchant observations of her illness are more lighthearted than I expect she actually was at the time。 It's her look at the impact of the lock down - of living with her husband (who can't close a cabinet door), her daughters, her neighbors-where this collections shines。 Who among us didn't binge a TV series or argue about thin Wentworth manages, against the grain, to make the COVID years funny in this series of short snappy essays that made me laugh more than once。 She got sick early on and her trenchant observations of her illness are more lighthearted than I expect she actually was at the time。 It's her look at the impact of the lock down - of living with her husband (who can't close a cabinet door), her daughters, her neighbors-where this collections shines。 Who among us didn't binge a TV series or argue about things that we would have pushed off? Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 A fun read that will make you nod your head in recognition and smile。 。。。more

I've read two other essay collections by Ali Wentworth。 I like her。 She's funny。 This book, based on her getting COVID at the very beginning of the pandemic is my favorite。 It's a collection of essays, not just about her getting COVID, but about the shelter-in-place, quarantine, and other COVID-related issues。My favorite essay was about her binge-watching Mad Men。 I will leave it at that。 But read this book。 I was especially glad I read this book because it was short and funny and held my attent I've read two other essay collections by Ali Wentworth。 I like her。 She's funny。 This book, based on her getting COVID at the very beginning of the pandemic is my favorite。 It's a collection of essays, not just about her getting COVID, but about the shelter-in-place, quarantine, and other COVID-related issues。My favorite essay was about her binge-watching Mad Men。 I will leave it at that。 But read this book。 I was especially glad I read this book because it was short and funny and held my attention。 This year has been hard for me reading-wise。 I've had no attention span and am often unmotivated to read。 But I wanted to read this book because I knew I would chuckle and I needed that。 I won this book from Goodreads and received no compensation for my review。 the opinions contained herein are mine and mine alone。 。。。more

Ali Wentworth is well know for her self effacing comedy。 Readers will find that in the book, but they will also read about serious issues that many people have had to deal with in the last two years。 Friendships that didn't make it through the Covid season, political differences that erupt into arguments and the logistics of living 24/7 in a house with others。Readers might be surprised by the heartfelt writing of Ali's regarding her daughter who is getting ready to graduate high school。 She is n Ali Wentworth is well know for her self effacing comedy。 Readers will find that in the book, but they will also read about serious issues that many people have had to deal with in the last two years。 Friendships that didn't make it through the Covid season, political differences that erupt into arguments and the logistics of living 24/7 in a house with others。Readers might be surprised by the heartfelt writing of Ali's regarding her daughter who is getting ready to graduate high school。 She is not ready to stop being a parent and her love for her daughters shows。 Quick read。* I read an advance copy and was not compensated。 。。。more
